Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Relationships: Dr. Jekyll
The most obvious relationship is between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Utterson. Mr. Utterson sees Dr. Jekyll as a close friend, but Dr. Jekyll refers to him as another friend that keeps a promise after he dies. Mr. Utterson has a little beef with Mr. Hyde and quoted "I can't pretend that I shall ever like him" (Stevenson 13). That statement was to Dr. Jekyll but directed towards Mr. Hyde. He seems as if he creates a close relationship with all of his clients. I think this is so because this is his technique. He must use it for more customers or maybe just because he is a friendly guy. He could be plotting to destroy a lot of people. His friendliness could be a mask he wears in front of other people. Then again, I could be paranoid.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Romance: Mr. Utterson
There is romance between Mr. Utterson and his work. He is serious about his job like when he told Mr. Enfield "If [he had] been inexact in any point, [he] had better correct it" (Stevenson 5). Throughout the story, every time he is present, he is asking some one a question that tributes to his work. If some one is that dedicated to one task then they must love doing it. Then again he could be preforming the task because he loves money, or maybe he has to provide for his family. Either way he is doing it out of love.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Historical Context: The Old Days
On page 8 the narrator, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, stated "It was a fine dry night, . . . the streets as clean as a ball-room floor [and] the lamps [were] unshaken by any wind, . . ." I believe this quote serves for two parts of historical context. The first evidence that was stated in the text was that the streets were as clean as a ball-room floor. This means that someone cleaned the street, which leads to the conclusion that a street sweeper had been present early that night. I've only heard heard of street sweepers in "back in the day" types of movies. The second text evidence is obviously "the lamps [were] unshaken by any wind" (Stevenson 8). This shows that instead of street lights, they had candles which means that they did not have any source of electricity. Their time period is between the 1800's and the 1900's I assume.
This little evidence is important to the readers so they can picture in their mind the setting. I usually picture an old, beat up petite town where the citizens try to renew it by cleaning streets and creating sight seeing places. A town where all the houses look the same except for one house that usually has a back story. For example, some one died there and rumor was put out that you would be cursed if you even go near the place, so no one decided to fix that particular home.

Change of heart (ch.22)
Dear Victor,
You made a promise that you would lift this burden of loneliness from my heart. You could not keep this promise for your life. I want to say that since you want to burden me then I will return the favor. Prepare to visit a world of hatred towards me. If you will not listen to me while I am being nice then maybe I should start using force.

p.s. Remember these words- "I will be with you on your wedding-night!"

Another down (ch.21)
Dear No One,
This is going to quick and painless. Well, to me anyway. I guess every one is getting worked up over Henry's death, but Victor shouldn't be surprised. He should have know better. I told him specifically that I was watching him. I even talked to him in person. He is such a stubborn little man. Ha.

A Promise is a Promise (ch.20)
Dear Victor,
I am surprised that my words do not move you. That they don't change not a thing that you think. Why can you not see this from my point of view? I am so miserable, and if that does not matter to you, what about your promise? You promised to make me a mate that is equal to myself should still stand. You also can not say I did not keep my promise. Hello, I have been tailing you this whole time, so I couldn't have stopped to kill anything. You despise me. I am beginning to wonder who the monster really is.
From Yours Truly
p.s. If I can't have happiness, no one can! >:-(

Angry Again (ch.19)
Dear Victor,
I have a few chosen words for you. It's been who knows how long, and some how I am not very happy. There is no companion by my side. There's no other being that looks like me. I can not believe you would do this to me. Then again, you do think I am a daemon and fiend to man kind. Well, you have only so much time time before our little deal is broken, and when it is you will not like what you find.

My Happpiness (ch.17)
Dear Victor,
Thank you for reasoning with me and doing this wonderful deed you are planning to commence. I know you do not trust me like I want you to, but I swear to you after my companion is alive and moving, you will forget that I even exist. I'll place her and myself so far away that man kind will never change (At least not by us). For you I will not even destroy animals. Any living thing will be spared in my path, as the same for my soon to be wife. I just can not wait for this glorious moment that she will come to life and join me in my quest to live a free and happy life. She will cleanse my heart and give me much happiness. I will no longer be this hideous monster. In her eyes we are one in the same (Only a different sex). Oh, what an exciting day this happened to be.
Love anew monster
p.s. I give you a thousand thanks! I will be anew soon! : D I could not be happier.

A Heart not to share (ch.15)
Dear you thing,
I hate HIM, my creator. He is so idiotic. How could he just look at me and turn his back toward me. How could a creator do such a thing to his creation. It doesn't make any since. He despises me so. He is more like satin himself and I a descendant from his long lost ancestors, but definitely still related to him. I am ashamed to have been created by this monstrosity. I am to angered to even continue this darn note to no one. Ugh!

languages (ch.13)
Dear whoever wants to hear,
A strange Arabian girl arrives at the door. Agatha decides to teach Safie a new language and Victor happens to learn her language while they are practicing. They both learn new languages as time passes.
From The Frankenstein
p.s. "The Frankenstein" has a nice ring to it. Nothing big or exciting has really happened.

2nd victim: Justine (ch.8)
Dear whoever is listening,
I couldn't believe only two people believed Justine was innocent. She confessed to crime that she did not commit, but if they were not interrogating her so much she would not have been broken down with pressure. She was killed the day after her trail. Elizabeth must be a true friend to trust that Justine was innocent even after she confessed with a lie. Victor, on the other hand, had his own reasons to trust her innocence. He believed that the murderer was me.I guess Elizabeth is still the saddest of the pack.
From Unknown Frankenstien
p.s. I miss Justine. These letters to no one are getting sadder and more depressing with every sentence. :-(

Will (ch.7)
Dear Book of Thoughts,
Today was not as good as I thought it would be. Uurrgghh! Everyone struggled to stay awake and find William deep in the night. They were worried and they sadly discovered him stretched on the grass, motionless and dead. Elizabeth was hurt the most emotionally I think.I wonder if I have a working heart because I think I am feeling a little sympathy shining through (Only for Lizzy though). Everyone thinks poor Justine Moritz is the murderer. She is one-hundred percent innocent and no one seemed to believe Victor. Victor seemed very suspicious of me. I saw him on his way to his fathers house deep in the night. I will never forget the face he made when he witnessed me. It was like he discovered an unknown, hideous monster before him. He stared as if I were doing what was proclaimed impossible to humans.
